These are adorable. You mentioned the dump truck needing a catch.....what about a bit of hook and loop? Can be obtained in a long roll or as small squares or circles.

Looks like you are having fun with this. I remember when my Dad made similar toys for family. He also went 'fancy' and made a replica of a semi for an uncle who owned a small truck line.
