[Woodworkers] OT-Electrical

Curious. Why isn't a 500 VA UPS OK? In my case it has to power only the computer and monitor for less than a minute before my natural gas generator and transfer switch automatically kicks in, so run time is really not a factor for me. 

Are they less reliable, more cheaply built, don't have a life as long as a 1000 or 1500 VA unit? Or is it just the capacity? 

I have my inkjet printer plugged into a separate 300 VA UPS.
