[Woodworkers] [Admin] List domain renewal

Me and 2Dave are like twinsies- I’ll be retiring soon (if the stock market doesn’t completely crash) and it sure would be nice to hang onto this memory, at least for a little while longer. But life is full of changes, some sadder than others.

I’m good with whatever needs to be done but, like others, I’m more than willing to chip in to help keep it alive.

Thanks to all of the admin people for doing what you do.

Doh, a beer I want a beer

Ray, the guy who buys me beer

Me, the guy whom Ray buys beer

Fa, a long way to go for beer

So, I think I’ll have a beer

La, La la la la la la

Ti, no thanks I’ll have a beer

And that will bring us back to Doh! Doh! Doh!

Congrats on approaching retirement, Dave2! I've got another year to go, I think. It all depends on when the kids move out. It might have been a mistake, but we said they could live with us until they were done with college, if they desired.

To be honest, I haven't done much woodworking of late, at least not fine woodworking. I've built a few outbuildings, made a few functional pieces from rougher lumber, and made a few smaller pieces on my CNC router. I've spent the last 6 years teaching myself design work in Fusion 360, and ultimately realizing those designs on 3D printers and CNC routers.

Here's a quick video on cutting out a copper heat sink on my router. (Yeah, I know, the lighting isn't good)

I've also been doing more metal work, and I've got a melting furnace for aluminum / copper. I've done some green sand casting, and I just picked up a full investment casting setup (includes a burn-out oven, vacuum chamber, vulcanizing mold maker, wax injector, centrifugal spinner). I'm looking forward to designing, 3D printing, and casting the items.

Regards,
-Steve

Given some time I could probably spin a tale or two but not even close to the caliber that Joe did. With any luck I will retire next year and who knows, maybe I’ll become Joe 2.0 at least in posting random stuff if for no other reason than out of boredom J. I kind of feel like if we let it go it will be the final chapter, the reminders of Joe would fade even more and those little things like this that remind me of him and make me smile would be gone.

But if it is becoming more work for you then it isn’t fair to hang on to it out of nostalgia either. So if a switch is in order then I guess Google Group might be the best for me. I am not on and have no intention of joining FB or any other social media platform.

Hello All,

It's getting close to March again, and I'm once again faced with the domain renewal option.

The domain renewal is relatively cheap, but at the same time, I don't see much activity on this list. Also at the same time, I have weekly if not daily spam that I have to deal with. (Mostly requests to join the list, but names don't match up with email addresses).

Finally, Jason is moving all of his hosting to other servers so we would be one of the last on his server.

I'm just wondering if maybe we should say goodbye to our domain name and move to another venue? Facebook group? Google group? MeWe group?

Regards,
-Steve
