Thanks for the tip Richard. I think I’ll try to speed up the process by taking a piece to my daughter’s dispensary and putting it under the grow lights!

I find that mahogany darkens fairly quickly on it’s own.  Take a scrap piece, sand it to 320 put a thin coat of finish on it and set it in the sun for a couple of weeks. You will get a good idea of how quickly mahogany darkens.  If you do stain it know that it will darken more..

I’m making a frame for a mirror out of mahogany and it’s the 1st  time I’ve used mahogany for a project. Would anybody have a suggestion for a stain color? I’m looking for something on the dark side (hmmm, as in darker color not … well,you know, Star Wars dark … oh never mind)
