[Woodworkers] Pen stuff

Hi Tom,

Congrats on your first pen!

I can give you a few pointers on pen making if you don't mind some
critiquing.

For the celtic cross, especially with a pen as small as the slim line,
you'll want to use a thin blade. I've used a thin kerf (0.100") blade on my
table saw, but I wouldn't go thicker.

The angle -- I use a 60 degree angle for my cuts, but you can use anywhere
from 45 to 60 degrees. The thinner the blade, the closer you can get to 45
degrees. Lots of people use bandsaws.

The center band -- you may have used the wrong bushings here as the wood
should be the same diameter as the center band, or very close to it.

Slim line pens are among the hardest to make. There isn't much wood, and
they are two piece. The only saving grace of them is that the kits are
cheap, so a lot of people new to the hobby go with them first. Next pen
choose a fatter one like a cigar pen, or a one piece like a bullet pen.
It'll be much easier to do.

Nice contrasting wood usage, and good finish.

Regards,
-Steve
