I was surfing the internet for ideas and I came across this Greene and Greene bench that was just what I was looking for. (<a href="https://www.woodsmithplans.com/plan/greene-brothers-hall-bench/">https://www.woodsmithplans.com/plan/greene-brothers-hall-bench/</a>) So I thought I’d order these plans and see what I get. The more I go over the plans and the authors’ methods I think I’m going to have to make adjustments to build it properly. For the breadboards he suggests cutting 3 big ass mortices in the edge of the board and then making a smaller slot going through the edge for a big pan head screw. Once the piece is screwed onto the panel then you’re supposed to make a plug to put in the mortice and sand flush. This might work but I can see a lot of opportunity to mismatch the surfaces. I think I’ll go with the more traditional breadboard like you guys have described.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>Thanks for your help.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'>Smitty <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif";color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><div><div style='border:none;border-top:solid #B5C4DF 1.0pt;padding:3.0pt 0in 0in 0in'><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'>From:</span></b><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'> Woodworkers [mailto:woodworkers-bounces@lists.sawdusters.org] <b>On Behalf Of </b>gcw804--- via Woodworkers<br><b>Sent:</b> Wednesday, October 30, 2024 7:06 PM<br><b>To:</b> woodworkers@sawdusters.org<br><b>Cc:</b> gcw804@aol.com<br><b>Subject:</b> Re: [Woodworkers] Bread board ends<o:p></o:p></span></p></div></div><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>Smitty,<o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p> </o:p></span></p></div><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>I've built a large work table for my wife and used a combo of multiple mortises and tenons with a tongue and groove.
