The top tier is really just a block of wood. I bought some cheap 2 x pine today. I’m going to do a quick mock-up before I tackle the final wood of walnut and cherry. Each tier will be like molding mitered together. My biggest concerns are the bottom 2 tiers because I’m not sure my TS can handle that thickness in a 45 degree miter. I think shaping a cove and oval that size will probably take lots of handwork.
