Initially it was a struggle to keep the template in one place until I realized the router just wasn’t following along really smoothly. So I waxed the templates which really helped but it also created a bit of a problem getting the tape to stick to the template. We solved that by taking the tape all the way around the template (instead of on 2 sides). Then what I noticed was the that the router was hanging up on the tape and would peel back the edges so I waxed the router base. Seems to help but the wax does wear off fairly quickly.

We are routing 3/16” deep and I have found it is better to make 2 passes then to try and take it all at once.

2Dave

<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"">From:<span style="font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif""> Woodworkers [mailto:woodworkers-bounces@lists.sawdusters.org] On Behalf Of Herb Treuil
Sent: Friday, December 02, 2016 4:34 AM
To: woodworkers@lists.sawdusters.org
Subject: [Woodworkers] Secrets to Stenciling with a Router

<span style="font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:#000066">I have seen several router template kits which advise to link the letters together and tape them onto the board with blue masking tape.
