[Woodworkers] [Admin] List domain renewal

I’ve been one of the ones posting recently so I’d like to keep it going. Input from this group helps immensely! I would be willing to financially contribute as well.

RE: Retirement … I retired back in 2016 and love it. Of course I stay busy with woodworking, grandkids, & travel (hope to pick that back up). I stay really, really busy. When I was working, I had retired friends that would say “I don’t know how I did all this and worked too”. My response is always, “then you didn’t work enough because there is no way I could do what I’m doing now and work!”.

I rarely post but do follow along when others do. Since the hosting of the list is not a concern, (thank you Frank!) my vote is to keep it going. Moving to another platform often times is a risk of losing members. While this may not be a primary method of communication, it is a fall back if someone is looking for it. I know I have seen multiple emails asking about where the IRC/Discord chat is now hosted over time, and has allowed those to reconnect. If cost of domain renewal is a concern, I can help contribute to it too.

Steve,

I'm OK with whatever you would like to do.

I also willing to donate towards the renewal cost.

Nor do I use it, although I do read the posts that come through. Just not prone to jabber much, although it is a valuable site. Biggest problem is lack of time, I need to retire!

If you continue, I will endeavor to use it more often. Joe was the inspiration with his continuous jabber, no one now has the time or inclination.

Steve,

I suggest Google groups. I have been inactive, but will start using the group again in about 8 months. Please keep me posted.

Hello All,

It's getting close to March again, and I'm once again faced with the domain renewal option.

The domain renewal is relatively cheap, but at the same time, I don't see much activity on this list. Also at the same time, I have weekly if not daily spam that I have to deal with. (Mostly requests to join the list, but names don't match up with email addresses).

Finally, Jason is moving all of his hosting to other servers so we would be one of the last on his server.

I'm just wondering if maybe we should say goodbye to our domain name and move to another venue? Facebook group? Google group? MeWe group?

Regards,
-Steve
