When I first started woodworking a good number of years ago, it was Joe and the members of this group that help me get thru the stupid stage.. We miss you Joe.

I too will hoist a pint tonight in memory of Joe. I miss his stories.
For the CNC part, I know Beamer is going to make fun of me, but I purchased an Inventables X-Carve 2 months ago. I went that way, rather than what Jason recommends, as I do not have a programming background and I figured the learning curve was too steep to go that way. So far, I have been happy with it. I am learning a ton of things about CNC programming. They have an excellent users forum. The Easel software has some limitations, but is very easy to use. I may well, after a few years of education, go the route that Jason has gone, but it has been a good educational platform so far.

Yeah, Joe was the guy you always thought would be around. I never met him in person, but talked to him several times via the internet and a couple of times on the phone. Things just aren't quite the same without him around to stir things up now and again.
Speaking of topics to talk about....has anyone took the plunge into CNC stuff? and how is that working out for you if you have?
I have looked and am thinking about making my own...might not know what I am getting myself into, but looks interesting if nothing else.

I have never cleared the reminder of Joe’s birthday from my calendar. Somehow I just cannot bring myself to do it. I think that deep down I have felt that I always wanted something to remind me of him as more time passes. Sure I could change the reminder to some random day, but it just seems right to leave it and remember him on his birthday. For those of you that met Joe, you probably know what I mean. For those that never met him in person, Joe just had this likable personality that instantly drew you in. You were instantly friends and hanging out with him was always a good time.
Happy Birthday Joe! A beer will be raised in your honor tonight when I get home.
