[Woodworkers] DIWire?

Inlay is a good idea. CNC machine to cut groove and wire bender thingy to bend the wire to fit exactly. Make some fancy instruments (or parts for some luthier).
Jewelry. Celtic knots, filligree and so on.
Can it unbend? Lots of bent wire out there, could be an untapped market.

Yes, I think it can do 3D bending. I thought I saw that in a video.
I did decide that I might be able to do something like a copper inlay...

Does it only bend in 2D? I have a need ... but i'm pretty sure it'll require 3D bending ... think soldering iron rest - like a triangular lookin' bit with a cradle in the top peak ... but it would need to stand upright so I suspect a 3D bend would be needed - it wouldn't sit flat.

LOL. That's what I said to a co-worker earlier today. I could use a $5,000 machine to make paperclips.
I received it in payment for a job. Sounded interesting at the time.
But, yeah, so I could make a bunch of little doodads and widgets for someone, or I could make some modern art, I guess.
Maybe springs.
It can bend up to 1/8th inch steel, so maybe some custom handles or latches.

Paperclips. You could definitely make paperclips.

Have any of you guys heard of the DIWire? It's a CNC wire bender.

At any rate, I have one of these, and, for the life of me, I can't think of any project to make with it that isn't some sort of craptastic wall hanging or knick knack.
The website says it can be used for rapid prototyping, but rapid prototyping what? The projects they list all look either very specific to a product, or super cheesy, or both.
So, what do people make with these?
Regards,
-Steve
