[Woodworkers] Pen question

Unless I had something that splinters awfully bad, I wouldn't waste time
doing it. Rounding a blank takes seconds on most pen blanks. Personally, I
have never seen a need and never had problems with anything other than
severely spalted woods but the issues were NOT splintering, the problem was
the total lack of structural integrity within the wood blank and even
pre-rounding would not have helped. I needed to stabilize the wood with
Super Glue or one of the commercial wood stabilizers. (Super Glue is
cheaper and easier!)
My 2 cents
