[Woodworkers] windows

Therompane??? Really Joe?
You better study up on your vinyl window construction ☺ Thermopane technology has gone the way of the dodo bird. There is all kinds of nifty technology using argon gas and thin layers of mylar (or some other thin material) to defeat UV and heat transfer from the sun. On our huge south facing window on a hot summer day with full sun on the window the inside of the window is basically room temp, there is very little heat gain. In the dead of winter with no sun and the temps in the single digits the window is room temp, in other words there is no cold infiltration.
We have thermopane windows at work, heat gang is horrendous as is the cold infiltration compared to my windows at home. And I went with middle of the road windows.

FYI I looked at Cascade Windows and they have some nifty energy saving technology in their frames that was very intriguing but the salesman just turned me off.

The glass is thermopane and comes in colors; white, almond and what they call sand (think of a camel); obviously, the price depends upon the size.

You can also get the vinyl painted (you can see the colors on the web site) but it adds another 2 - 3 weeks and (I'm guessing here) at least twice the cost. I have never set a painted vinyl window so I can't speak intelligently about them.

For y'alls edification you "set" a window and you "hang" a door.

Class dismissed...'ceptin' for you, Dave, I don't appreciate you sittin' back there blowing me raspberries. Now, go up to the blackboard and write "I'm a total dink" 100 times.
