Chuck
Call Sleepy's in Eureka Springs. 253-2080 ask him what he does with his log carved statues. Worth the trip to go see him and see his work.

Chuck:I have purchased a few hand carvings and they all had a hole drilled in the bottom, going pretty well up into the body.I suppose this helps prevents splitting and cracking.Wish you great luck !TomL

A couple weeks ago, I purchased a chain saw log art piece (whimsical Christmas tree) at a local crafts fair. It stands about 3 ½ feet tall and the largest diameter is 13 inches. It was painted from top to bottom with 2 coats of poly on it when I purchased it. I knew he didn’t do that at the crafts fair but didn’t know when it was done. It has cracks in it but that is to be expected from a carved log.
