I think I chose to not use it partially because of component cooling. Amplifier got pretty warm even without the doors and I didn't want to have to put in a fan/vent.

Well thank you Clint. I do appreciate that. I have a new respect for Idahoofians. I’m sure Big Dave would be like, “Dude, how much money you got?” But, before you start trying to find it let me check things out. As much as I’d like to hide everything I also like seeing all of those colorful lights. From: woodworkers at lists.sawdusters.orgDepends. IR needs some visibility, although as Joe said, usually work through smoked glass. RF needs none, but your devices need to be able to accept it. I've got a repeater that receives an RF signal and then transmits an IR signal to the components. It can work behind solid doors. The placement of the repeater signal transmitter is tricky on some devices. It has to be "just so" over the IR receiver on the device.
JohnEverything is always okay in the end, if it's not, then it's not the end.

I want to put the cable box, Blueray, etc. in a lower cabinet behind glass. Anybody know how frosted, smoked or textured you can go and still get the remote to work on all of the devices? I used smoked on the unit I built - nary a problem. -- Joe,The Twisted Knot Woodshop, "There's never been a classier joint"Visit the Twisted Knot Woodshop - http://www.twistedknotwoodshop.com_______________________________________________
