[Woodworkers] Vacation and a table update

Next week I will be on vacation.  With any luck I will get some shop time :)
More importantly if the weather cooperates at all I will start the process of cleaning out the stuff I hauled home from dad's that got packed into the old shop.  It is time.  In hindsight I wish I hadn't brought some of it home.  But sentimental reason outweighed practical at the time.  In the words of my wife and the other Dave it is time to be ruthless.  Although it will still get put into 3 piles, keep, I'm not sure, and dispose of.  The weather will be my worst enemy on that project.  The shop faces south with no protection from the sun and is brutally hot inside by the time it is 75 outside.  The weather forecast for next week is calling for progressively warmer days with highs in the 90's by Friday.  This is way too warm for June in eastern Washington.

Another Mongo Table Update.
A month or so ago I was seeking input for the latest table project.  Gary and I traded several emails, the other Dave was enlisted to help and after a little mishap with a jig we accomplished the task of attaching the breadboard ends.  It was decided that we should add some metal strapping to the bottom across the end.  I think this was mostly a piece of mind function.  Our biggest fear is that someone will try to move the table by lifting on the ends.  I think we all can agree that the glue joint is not going to be the weak point but who knows about the wood itself.  We then decided to go ahead and finish the bottom in its entirety just so we don't have to flip this monster over anymore than we have to.  So here is the bottom with the stain on.  It has lightened up some since this picture was taken and it looks pretty cool.  We will put 3 coats of Urethane on as a minimum.  Maybe 4 or 5 depend on how it looks.  Then we will flip it over and finish the top.
